Supported by funding from the Local Food Purchase Agreement (LFPA) program, we’ve been able to sell almost all of our produce to local food pantries Fisherman’s Mark and Delaware Valley Food Pantry. The purpose of LFPA is to improve local food system resiliency and NJ has utilized the funding to support the purchase of local farm products by food security organizations.
Hungry Work Farm worked with Norwescap to plan hand-in-hand with Fisherman’s Mark and Del Val Food Pantry. Fortunately, we’ve had a relationship with both organizations for years, growing and donating produce and also donating groceries during our time spent at Basil Bandwagon in Lambertville.
Approximately 95% of what we have grown has gone to the pantries, and the remaining 5% has been mixed produce sold to Chef Jared Batson in Hopewell, flowers sold to Gather in Frenchtown, eggs sold to Chez Daniel in Frenchtown, and chickens and eggs sold to friends of the farm.
Winter projects include the installation of permanent deer fencing, improvements to the wash/pack station and walk-in cooler, and additional plantings of native perennial shrubs and trees to fill out the windbreak/hedgerow.
Thanks to everyone who helped make 2024 a success!
